Firefox Planned for Intel Macs

Via Red Herring.

The group behind the web’s second-most popular browser said Monday it plans to ship a version of its Firefox browser for Apple’s newly launched Intel-based Mac computers sometime during March, in a bid to win over consumers who use Apple’s Safari browser.

Firefox’s parent, Mozilla Corporation, said it has a test version of the browser available for download on its web site but must still iron out a few kinks. Mozilla software engineer Josh Aas said the initial test versions of the browser for Intel Macs crashed because of a flash plug-in, a tool used by many web sites to display multimedia content.

“The problem has been brought to Macromedia's attention, and they are working on a fix,” he said.
