Australia: Power Hazard Hits Optus

Serious power supply problems at Optus's vital internet and telephone exchange at Mascot, Sydney, could mean at least a year of internet and email outages for the company's eastern seaboard business and residential customers.

A six hour shut-down at the exchange on March 1 was the fourth such outage in 15 months and Optus has no plans to fix the problem until March next year, according to internal company documents obtained by The Australian.
