Great Job Title Alert: Tequila Taster

Every year, Popular Science magazine ranks the worst jobs in science, ranging from orangutan urine collector to human lab rat. Notably absent from the list is tequila researcher, an occupation that sounds more like a pick-up line from an MTV spring break special than a real job.

But despite the occasional smart-aleck news report, the world's tequila researchers are hard at work, ensuring that no fraudulent shots are slammed down by navel-licking college sophomores on vacation this year. Nothing ruins a visit to Chi-Chi's faster than an adulterated margarita, but a study appearing in the June 14 Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, published by the American Chemical Society, details a new test to detect fake tequila.
