EU Regulators Poised to Slap Huge Fines on Microsoft

Haven't we been hearing this for well over a year now?

An AFP newswire article, via Yahoo! News, reports that:

EU regulators are preparing to raise the pressure on Microsoft for failing to comply with a 2004 antitrust ruling by slapping huge new fines on the US software giant.

The European Commission, the EU's competition watchdog, could impose fines of up to two million euros (2.5 million dollars) per day on Microsoft for not bowing to its demands.

EU regulators are to consult with counterparts in member states on July 3 and 10 on whether to apply the fine and exactly how big it should be, a source said Tuesday, confirming press reports.
