Freescale in Buyout Talks

Austin [Texas]-based Freescale Semiconductor Inc. is in talks to be acquired by a consortium of private-equity groups in what would be the largest technology buyout ever.

The New York Times reported Sunday that the company was close to a deal that values the company at $16 billion. The paper, quoting unnamed sources, said the consortium includes Texas Pacific Group, Blackstone Group and Permira, and that Carlyle Group and Bain Capital could also join the group.
